Investigating to learn

Designed for medical students, Diagnosis on Hold is an escape game set in a hospital environment. Participants investigate the causes of a patient’s wrist pain. The game puts diagnostic reasoning at the centre of the experience and provides an interactive setting for medical education.

The escape game format organizes learning around an investigation and progression through a hospital setting. The patient’s case provides the thread of that investigation. This reference connects interactive game design with a medical student audience, using diagnostic reasoning as the subject of the experience presented in the portfolio. It complements WinMed’s browser-based medical training format.
